Lois Lane has settled in to her new school. She has friends, for maybe the first time in her life. She has a job that challenges her. And her friendship is growing with SmallvilleGuy, her online maybe-more-than-a-friend. But when her friend Maddy’s twin collapses in a part of town she never should’ve been in, Lois finds herself embroiled in a dangerous mystery that brings her closer to the dirty underbelly of Metropolis.

REVIEW:

**A copy of this book was provided via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.**

Gwenda Bond released the first book in the Lois Lane series in May. (Read my review HERE!) Now there is another book in this series preparing for release. While you have to wait until May 2016, it will be well worth the wait.

Gwenda Bond’s “Fallout” was great… but “Double Down” is fantastic! “Double Down” takes us to the next stage in Lois Lane’s story. This time we are following Lois as she looks into multiple problems, an ex-mayor and a shady lab. What I absolutely loved about this book is that we got to go a lot more in-depth with the characters we were introduced to in the first book. There was a lot of character development, friendship development, and growth opportunities during “Double Down”. Of course, there was a lot of action and suspense waiting to find out if Lois was going to solve the issues. As if we have doubts?

Bond has a way of bringing these characters that we have all grown up watching in movies and reading in comics to life. She has taken a beloved character, Lois Lane, and gave her a backstory that is reminiscent of Veronica Mars. Lane is quirky, sarcastic, and brave… all the best qualities in teenage girls!

It’s pretty obvious I am going to give this book a five star rating. This is easily one of my favorite series in many years and two of my favorite books I read this year. Well done, yet again, to Gwenda Bond.

“Lois Lane: Double Down” doesn’t release until May 1st of 2016, but you can pre-order now on Amazon and Barnes and Noble. If you haven’t read the first book in the series yet, pick up a copy! It’s called Lois Lane: Fallout! You can also read “Lois Lane: Cloudy with a Chance of Destruction” free from Amazon! It’s a short story prequel to the first Lois Lane book by Gwenda Bond. A nice little filler!

Also add “Double Down” to your To Read list on Goodreads for your 2016 list! Make sure to leave your feedback for Bond on her Goodreads page as well after finishing each book!
