SYNOPSIS: (From Goodreads)

When Shelby Dawson survives a harrowing attack that should have left her dead, she tries to move past it—for herself, and for her family. Fifteen months later, with the help of her best friend, Mackenzie, she finally feels safe again in the snowy Minnesota town she calls home. But when an anonymous note appears on her windshield bearing the same threats her attacker made, Shelby realizes that her nightmare has only just begun.

As new evidence surfaces, and a group of well-meaning senior citizens accidentally makes the case go viral online, the situation quickly goes from bad to worse. And with suspicious accidents targeting those closest to her happening all over town, Shelby can’t shake the feeling that she’s being watched. Fighting to stay one step ahead of disaster, she finds herself asking the question on everyone’s lips: Who attacked her that night?

But Shelby isn’t the only one with questions. Mackenzie’s husband, Leo, vanished without a trace on that terrible night, and over a year later, no one knows why. Until a deep dive into his finances reveals a history of debts, mismanaged funds, and hidden accounts—one of which is still active. Their suspicion that Leo is still alive only complicates things further, though, and when another person connected to Shelby goes missing, she’s caught in a race against time before her attacker becomes a killer.

REVIEW:

**A copy of this book was provided by the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.**

Seraphina Nova Glass is known for her twists and turns and surprises. I was expecting a lot from Nothing Ever Happens Here. Plus, the title alone has you all kinds of nervous because just when someone says nothing ever happens here is exactly when something happens. It’s like saying “I’ll be right back” in a horror movie. You never come back!

The story actually is split with multiple story lines. There’s Shelby who survived a terrible attack on herself and then there’s Leo, missing husband to friend of Shelby. The guess is that Leo attacked Shelby and that is why he ran, but not everyone thinks that. Then random notes start appearing and you just don’t know who to believe. Glass has this uncanny way of leaving you questioning EVERYONE. I had no idea what to believe. Even the people you are basically reading every page in their perspective you don’t trust. There are a lot of twists and a lot of characters you really want to trust, but are unsure if you should.

My only problem was I would get confused here or there because of the jumping around and not being able to track quickly where we jumped. It wasn’t the end of the world, but it did throw me off a little bit. Not enough to ruin the book though, so I’m okay with that.

While I really like the lead characters, my favorite group in this story is the nursing home of old people. Nothing is better than retired individuals with a lot of time on their hands. They are epically hilarious and really made this story as good as it was. I would love a side story or a flashback story of some of these people to their younger years. I would read that in a second. Such good characters to really build up this story, which may have been slightly more boring otherwise.

I’ve always enjoyed Glass’ writing and I fully plan to pick up more of her books in the future and you should too. You may guess parts of this ending, but you definitely will not guess it all! Grab a copy now!
