Actor Chris Mark is the star in the action packed fantasy film Kill Order. Kill Order is the brain child of brother James Mark and stems from the love of anime from both Chris and James. We got to talk with Chris Mark about the film, his character, working with his brother, and more!
KRISTIN: How did you come to be an actor? Was it something you always wanted to do?
CHRIS: I’ve always been interested in entertainment industry growing up. I’ve idolized action stars like Jackie Chan, Jet Li and Donnie Yen. I started my career as a stunt performer and decided to take acting lessons along the way. Eventually those lessons turned into a passion which has now turned into a new career path.
KRISTIN: You star in the film Kill Order as David Lee. Tell us about your character and how he fits into this story.
CHRIS: David is a shy, socially awkward teenager that is trying to figure out his purpose in the world. He was a subject of an experiment that allowed him to unleash super human abilities while at the same time adopting a second personality. This “other” David is a trained mindless assassin with only one purpose, to kill.
KRISTIN: How did you get into character to play David? He has some extra abilities and I can imagine sometimes those are hard to portray.
CHRIS: David has such a tragic and grueling history that it was important to portray his fragility. On the other hand, his alter ego is so determined and confident. I wanted to show a clear contrast. In terms of his physical abilities, I’ve been doing martial arts for over 15 years. I trained extensively for 4 months before the role in martial arts, acrobatics and parkour in order to bring to life a super powered assassin.
KRISTIN: You worked alongside a pretty incredible and talented cast. What was that like for you?
CHRIS: Most of the “subjects” in Kill Order were casted from our entertainment company, Team 2X. Being able to fight these performers was a huge advantage as I’ve been working with them for over 10 years. Having that comfort and trust while doing fast pace and dangerous fight scenes makes the world of difference.
KRISTIN: You worked alongside James as he was directing and writing. How did you take his vision of this character and work to bring it to life?
CHRIS: James and myself are big fans of anime so when I read the script I instantly knew where he drew his inspiration from for the character of David. Bringing it to life and ensuring James’ vision was a smooth process.
KRISTIN: Why do you think people will love this film?
CHRIS: Anyone who likes anime inspired high-level martial arts will love this movie! The way the fight scenes are shot and performed will leave audiences in awe.
KRISTIN: What are you working on now?
CHRIS: I’m currently the fight coordinator for a new TV series called “Titans”. It’s a really cool show based on the cartoon Teen Titans.
KRISTIN: If you weren’t acting, what do you think you would be doing?
CHRIS: I can’t picture myself doing anything else but Film/TV. I love the industry I work in. I guess I would become a Buddhist monk if all else fails :p
KRISTIN: Where can we keep up with your work online?
CHRIS: You can follow my Instagram where I post my most recent work and training! @Chrismark2X
