SYNOPSIS: (From Goodreads)
Life as the Young Decay drummer has its traveling the world, beautiful fans in every city, living out my rockstar dreams. Still, no glamorous life ever came without its pitfalls—namely, addiction, jealousy, and stalkers.
Lucky for me, I ended up on the losing side of all three.
For the last five years, I’ve fought tooth and nail for my sobriety, the forgiveness of my friends and family, and avoided anything that might put all that in jeopardy. I thought I’d moved on from the attack, from my stalker, from the drink that nearly took me out.
I’m torn between exploring the growing feelings I have for the band’s new bodyguard and sabotaging everything for a glimpse of my stalker’s face.
When danger from the past shows itself in the form of a phone call, the walls I built begin to crumble.
Secrets are revealed. The past is winning.
But with her at my side, I know I can conquer anything.
And our rage is greater than my fear.
REVIEW:
**A copy of this book was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.**
First and foremost, please check the trigger warnings for this book. The author does a fantastic job of letting you know what you’re in for, so please take care of your mental health.
Bedlam is the third book in the Young Decay series and follows Bonnie Miller, drummer. Bonnie is an enigma of a character, who I was excited to get to know. I was not disappointed. This entire book exists in a gray area and this author is queen of telling the story between the lines.
Bonnie’s story was rough for me to read and I took quite a few breaks to digest the things happening in the book. Oddly enough, it wasn’t the stalker becoming a lover that got me. It was Bonnie’s sober journey. It was her inner monologue and the sheer pain she experienced within her own mind. Reading the emotions was experiencing them right along with the characters. Jack Whitney writes emotions and conversations so well.
Bonnie and Gemma’s relationship is worth the read. The sparks and fire between these two are hot! If spicy scenes are your thing, then you will love Bedlam. I haven’t read many sapphic romances yet but this one is top of my list.
Lastly, this was a long book and my only negative was it didn’t completely hold my attention in certain moments between the action scenes. That being said, it is a good read and an excellent addition to the Young Decay series. Thanks to Jack Whitney for allowing me to read and review this ARC!
A solid 4-stars!
