SYNOPSIS: (From Goodreads)

This was supposed to be the best summer of Maggie’s life. Now it’s the one she’d do anything to forget.

Maggie remembers hanging out at the gorge with her closest friends after a blowout party. She remembers climbing the trail with her perfect boyfriend, Joey. She remembers that last kiss, soft, lingering, and meant to reassure her. So why can’t she remember what happened in the moment before they were supposed to dive? Why was she left cowering at the top of the cliff, while Joey floated in the water below–dead?

As Maggie’s memories return in snatches, nothing seems to make sense. Why was Joey acting so strangely at the party? Where did he go after taking her home? And if Joey was keeping these secrets, what else was he hiding?

REVIEW:

**A copy of this book was provided by the publisher on Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.**

One Moment by Kristina McBride is one of those books that once you pick it up you don’t want to put it down. This held true as I finished this book in 24 hours between working 13 hours. Such a fantastic story. But I’m getting ahead of myself!

One Moment follows the story of Maggie who has a life altering moment happen in her life as she is left with her boyfriend Joey dead and her circle of friends quickly falling apart. This story is so incredibly emotional I found myself tearing up at many points. McBride nailed all the emotions that come with losing someone, finding out that the people you thought you knew were different than originally known, working through grief, regret, and guilt, and so many more. Maggie is a great character to read about. Her emotions are so up and down depending on the situation she is in and the people she is around. It’s a very realistic viewpoint of a teenager going through something this tragic. The supporting characters are also well developed. I found myself annoyed with a few and loving others. I want friends like Adam, who is always protecting me and Pete who always has a song to strum on the guitar to set the mood. My own Tanna to back me up and be my emotional girl support whenever I need some non-boy clarity. I don’t have a single complaint about this book except that I wish there was more.

If you want a emotionally charged, packed full of substance story with realistic characters, an easy flowing story line and great writing then pick up One Moment by Kristina McBride. One of my favorite books of 2017 and definitely one everyone can read. But have your tissues handy. This one pulls on the heart strings. Cannot wait for another book by Kristina McBride so that I can curl up in my favorite chair and devour it in one sitting. Five out five stars… easily.
