SYNOPSIS (From Goodreads):

Adrian is used to being on the go with the band. Traveling during the day, playing at night, and partying til morning. But now everyone’s getting older and starting to settle down, what does that mean for the crazy, free loving guitarist?

Chase has dedicated his life to helping others. Never liking the spotlight he has spent his time serving the community in the only way he knew how: as a police officer. However, unexpected news from the doctor has forced him to leave his career behind and try to enjoy what time he has left.

A chance encounter when doing the walk of shame leads Adrian and Chase to a love affair that no one expected, least of all Adrian. Knowing the time they have together won’t last, Adrian sets out to make sure Chase’s last moments on this earth are memorable. With the help of his bandmates they set out to pull off the ultimate bucket list. As fun as chasing dreams is, sometimes the domestic life doesn’t sound too bad either.

Can Adrian and Chase carve a life out for just themselves when old flames, health scares, and Adrian’s own reluctance to grow up keep popping up just when a simple life seems possible?

REVIEW:

I read the first book in this series last year and I named it one of my top 10 books of the year.  When my friend told me she was editing the second book in this series, I told her I needed to read it.  I was thrilled when she finally emailed it to me.  I hoped that it would be just as good as the first one!

Adrian has always had an exciting life.  Playing with a band, he lived a fair amount on the road.  He loves life on the road. Ethan and Cleo, the main characters from Missing You, Missing Me, get married and want to settle down for a bit and be a family.  Adrian goes home the night of the wedding with a woman for a quick one nighter.  As he is leaving, he runs into Chase doing a quick morning get away.  Later on, Adrian’s date called in a favor to have Adrian “arrested” because his date thought that the night was going poorly.  Chase was the officer that arrested him.  As Chase is dropping him off he slips Adrian his number.  They eventually go out on a date for a drink and slowly things become more serious. One day Chase tells him that he has a brain tumor and his time on this Earth is short. Adrian is asked by Ethan to fill in as guitarist.  Adrian accepts but only if Chase can come.  Chase goes with the band and, as time goes on, Chase’s health begins to decline.  Before they leave on the trip, Adrian and the band come up with a “fuckit” list.  Slowly they do everyone’s wishes before Chase dies.  Will Adrian and Chase realize they have the real deal when it comes to relationships?  Will Chase realize that he has more to live for and finally decide to accept treatment?

I went into this book with such great expectations and high hopes.  While the book didn’t let me down, the middle part of the book dragged a bit and had me wondering when things were going to pick back up again.  While I really loved Chase and Adrian’s story I found myself looking more for Ethan and Cleo.  Thankfully the author does continue their story in this book.  As the book came to an end, I found myself on the edge of my seat cheering for Chase and Adrian.  I wanted them to succeed in their relationship and take that next step to become a family.  The author wrote the characters well.  Really gave them issues that we can all see ourselves having.  Be it alcohol abuse, family issues or giving up on medical treatment because you think that it won’t work.  I wanted to hug Chase tight as he was having all of his hospitalizations.  I wanted to smack Adrian when he was putting Cleo and her issues first and not Chase.  I can’t wait to see what the author has in store for the next book.  I will be first in line to buy it.

STAR RATING: 4.5/5
