SYNOPSIS: (From Goodreads)

Seventeen-year-old Lydia Cornwallis has arrived on an exclusive Caribbean island populated only by the ultra-rich and their staff. The Harrington sisters rule the island, throwing lavish parties and treating everyone around them like toys for their amusement, and Lydia simply can’t wait to meet them.

Because she’s not Lydia Cornwallis.

And the Harringtons have hell to pay for what they’ve done.

When a storm hits the island and all routes to the mainland are cut off, Lydia is given the perfect opportunity to exact her murderous revenge. With time running out and her identity about to be exposed, Lydia will need to draw on epic nerve, quicksilver adaptability, and sly cunning to carry out her deadly plans.

REVIEW:

**A copy of this book was provided by the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.**

I’ve had this book for a long time and I have tried to read it on three separate occasions. I really wanted to enjoy it as I love a good YA Mystery and it’s one of my favorite genres. This book just could not catch my attention. I always give a book up to 30% to hook me in and at least make me want to keep reading and unfortuantely this book didn’t do that.

I don’t love the lead character “Lydia”. I found her personality bothersome and a bit annoying. I usually love finding a side character or two that I relate to and add to the story, and I didn’t find any of them either. The flow of the story was fine, if not a little slow and I wished the first chapter really gripped me. In a mystery novel, I expect that first chapter or at least the first few chapters to really hook me in.

I have to admit that I only give one star to books I do not finish, and this book I just couldn’t finish. With that said, everyone enjoys something a little different. I would strongly encourage others to check out this book or others from author Sue Wallman and see if one catches your attention. You may love it! I, myself, will check out more from Wallman as this was my first novel by her.
