REVIEW:
I had this book on radar to read for a little bit. I have seen it on BookTok as well as Bookstagram. Then with chatting with my sister she had a physical copy of the book and I was so excited to borrow it. Then low and behold my book club that I help run picked it for the book for January. I couldn’t wait to read it.
Poppy thinks she is living the dream. Vacationing and writing reviews up on what she does and experience’s. She often takes her best friend Alex along for the ride. However two years prior all that came to a halt with Alex when something happened in Croatia. She with the help of her friend realizes she isn’t as happy anymore as she was when she was with Alex. This causes her to reach out after two years. What happens next is something that she didn’t see coming. Will she be able to get past her issues to see what was in front of her the whole time? OMG I absolutely loved this book. I binged it most nights. It was the perfect mix of humor and thought provoking. I found myself asking some of the same questions the main character did.
My only real gripe about this book was how short the epilogue was. I desperately wanted more. I need to know what happens at the end. Did they get married?!? Did they have kids? I was invested in these characters story. I really loved the way that Poppy grew as a person through out this entire book. Alex grew as well but he didn’t need to do as much soul searching as she did. He knew what he wanted out of life for the most part. The only thing that was missing was Poppy really. I found their banter back and forth hilarious. It was a the perfect friends to something more book I have read in awhile. I have another book by this author in my to be read pile and I am definitely moving it to the top. I told my sister when I returned the book that she has got to read this book ASAP.
