Someone is always watching…

When a series of crimes hits Derek’s neighbourhood, DC Beth Mayes begins to suspect he’s involved. How does he know so much about the victims’ lives? Why won’t he let anyone into his office? And what is his mother hiding in that strange, lonely house?
As the crimes become more violent, Beth must race against the clock to find out who is behind the attacks. Will she uncover the truth in time? And is Derek more dangerous than even she has guessed?
REVIEW:
**A copy of this novel was provided by the publisher in exchange for an honest review.**
I’ve never read a Lisa Stone book before, but Stalker has me wanting to run to the nearest book store and pick up all her work.
Coming from a world of non-fiction, from what I’ve read of her, and just recently going into mystery and thriller writing I was very excited to check out her work. Stalker follows the story of Derek Flint. He’s that quiet, loner who watches people so closely he can sometimes come off as creepy. Yet, he owns a security company that installs cameras and monitoring devices in homes and businesses. Unfortunately for Flint a series of crimes hits the neighborhood and he becomes suspect number one.
Stone wrote Derek Flint as a character just creepy enough that you were suspect of his behaviors from moment one and just reassured that your evaluation of him was correct the farther you got into the story. Stone gave just enough back story for you to understand a little about why Flint was the way he was. I felt myself somewhat understanding his ‘why’ while also feeling the violation I am sure the victims felt. It was a feeling I’ve never honestly felt before when reading a mystery/thriller novel in regards to the perp.
I definitely love the writing style Lisa Stone uses. Stalker flows well and keeps you on the edge of your seat the entire time. The characters are well developed with just an air of mystery surrounding them. She knows just how much information to give to make you think you know what’s happening, but also keeping you guessing.
Stalker is a book for the lover of suspense novels with a psychological twist. I’d recommend it to anyone and plan on picking up her other novel as soon as I can.
