BOOK REVIEW: The Wedding Game by Meghan Quinn

Title: The Wedding Game
Author: Meghan Quinn

Publisher: Montlake
Genre: Romance
Pages: 397

SYNOPSIS: (From Goodreads)

Luna Rossi is a veritable crafting genius—she can bedazzle and bead so hard her Etsy site is one of the hottest in the world. So it’s only natural that Luna would convince her brother and his husband-to-be to compete on The Wedding Game, a “do-it-yourself” TV show, for the title of Top DIY Wedding Expert.

As a jaded divorce lawyer, Alec Baxter scoffs at weddings and romance. But when his recently engaged brother begs him to participate in The Wedding Game, Alec grudgingly picks up a glue gun and prepares for some family bonding.

Both fierce competitors, Luna and Alec clash on national TV as harsh words and glitter fly with abandon. But as they bicker over color swatches and mood boards, they find themselves fighting something else: their growing mutual attraction. While Luna is torn between family loyalty and her own feelings, Alec wonders if he might have been wrong about love and marriage all along…

REVIEW:

I always forget that Amazon does free first books for Prime members.  So when my friend told me that there was a free book by one of my favorite authors, I quickly jumped on and grabbed it before it was gone.  I couldn’t wait to read it.  I really enjoy her books and have added her to my list of favorite authors.

Luna loves to craft.  So much that she has turned it into a full-time business.  She has a YoutTube channel and an Etsy shop that is hugely popular.  So when she sees The Wedding Game is looking for contestants in the NYC area she knows she needs to convince her brother to apply.  When he refuses she signs him up anyway.   Alec is a divorce lawyer and a darn good one.  However, he is bad with emotions and has let his relationship fall by the wayside with his brother. That is until he asks him to do The Wedding Game with him and his fiance.  That is where Alec and Luna first cross paths.  OMG this book was absolutely adorable.  I didn’t want to stop reading it.  I read it throughout the day when I had a chance.  The characters are loveable and I was team Alec and Luna the whole way.

I loved all the side characters.  I think Luna’s best friend is my favorite though.  The whole fake fighting scene with Alec had me rolling on the floor with laughter.  I really liked the concept of the whole Wedding Game.  Honestly, if there was something like that on TV, I would totally watch it.  Seeing people make their own things for their wedding on a budget and competing about it would be fun to watch.   The characters all had things that you can see a normal person having.  From the bother who was afraid to be affectionate in public because he was gay and he was worried what other people thought to Alec having a less than stellar childhood and carrying that baggage with him in adult life.  Once again Meghan Quinn has knocked it out of the park.  I can’t wait to read more books by her in the future!
