It wasn’t until just recently that I dove head first into the world of Vampire Diaries fan fiction. Yes, most of the stories are older. Yes, the show is not on the air anymore, but I’m here to introduce you all to the fact that none of that matters. Auto In by goldnox was the third story I read in the Vampire Diaries fandom. It’s told from Damon Salvatore’s point of view, which in my opinion, is a top selling point. The characters are all human, or AH if you’re not up to par with fan fiction lingo.

Goldnox has a talent for finding Damon’s voice. He’s extremely well written and even with the parts of him the author took liberties with, it still feels like the same character. For the most part, I feel the same about Elena in this story, though, there were some moments where I personally would have liked to see her more canon.

The story itself is well thought out and there is just enough mystery to keep you guessing and to keep you coming back for more. It’s very difficult to capture the evolution of characters in words but goldnox does it brilliantly. The way this author moves all of the characters along just feels natural. I could actually see Damon, Elena, and Alaric as call center employees and picture the environment they worked together in daily. I read this entire story in a matter of two days and I highly suggest that you all do the same. After that, check out the other stories goldnox has written and make sure to leave reviews. As a fanfic author of more than 18 years, I know that reviews are the lifeblood that keep us going.

RATING: 4/5
