SYNOPSIS: (From Goodreads)
Georgette Castle’s family runs the best home renovation business in town, but she picked balloons instead of blueprints and they haven’t taken her seriously since. Frankly, she’s over it. Georgie loves planning children’s birthday parties and making people laugh, just not at her own expense. She’s determined to fix herself up into a Woman of the World… whatever that means.
Phase one: new framework for her business (a website from this decade, perhaps?)
Phase two: a gut-reno on her wardrobe (fyi, leggings are pants.)
Phase three: updates to her exterior (do people still wax?)
Phase four: put herself on the market (and stop crushing on Travis Ford!)
Living her best life means facing the truth: Georgie hasn’t been on a date since, well, ever. Nobody’s asking the town clown out for a night of hot sex, that’s for sure. Maybe if people think she’s having a steamy love affair, they’ll acknowledge she’s not just the “little sister” who paints faces for a living. And who better to help demolish that image than the resident sports star and tabloid favorite?
Travis Ford was major league baseball’s hottest rookie when an injury ended his career. Now he’s flipping houses to keep busy and trying to forget his glory days. But he can’t even cross the street without someone recapping his greatest hits. Or making a joke about his… bat. And then there’s Georgie, his best friend’s sister, who is not a kid anymore. When she proposes a wild scheme—that they pretend to date, to shock her family and help him land a new job—he agrees. What’s the harm? It’s not like it’s real. But the girl Travis used to tease is now a funny, full-of-life woman and there’s nothing fake about how much he wants her…
REVIEW:
WARNING GRAPHIC SEX SCENES
This year for my birthday I treated myself to a box of books for my birthday from BAM! and this was one of them. I have seen this authors books all over but I myself have never read anything by Tessa Bailey, but after reading this book by her I will definitely read more books by her.
Georgie does not follow her family. She is a party clown for hire with her company and her family buys and flips homes. She wants to be taken seriously but at 23 her family does not see her as such. That is until Travis comes on the scene and in a heated incident at family dinner take her thoughts into consideration. Travis is a washed up MLB player. Passed around from team to team after getting injured. He is back home and in a hole until Georgie pulls him out of it. Travis starts hanging out with her and realizes that she isn’t the annoying little sister of his friend anymore. Ok full disclosure guys this book is steamy like make you sweat and get red faced steamy. I listened to this while cleaning my house because it was actually a good book. I was invested in George and revamp of her style and her advance of her business.
This book is well written. It flows well through the storyline. You find yourself cheering for Georgie as she grows her business and as she and Travis find each other falling for each other. You have the classic fake girlfriend into real girlfriend situation. You feel Travis’s dark angst. You can tell he is trying to be a better person. You feel that he is struggling to not live up to his nickname and that he is really not that person that everyone seems to think that he is. He wants to do right by Georgie and be the man that she deserves to have. I really like this author and will certainly read all the other books that I ordered at the same time as this one. I played the lotto and betted that she would be an awesome author and I was right.
