June, Bette, and Gigi have given their all to dance at Manhattan’s most elite ballet school. Now they are competing one final time for a spot at the prestigious American Ballet Company. With the stakes higher than ever, these girls have everything to lose…and no one is playing nice.

June is starting to finally see herself as a prima ballerina. However, getting what she wants might cost her everything—including the only boy she’s ever loved. Legacy dancer Bette is determined to clear her name after she was suspended and accused of hurting her rival, Gigi. Even if she returns, though, will she ever regain the spotlight she craves? And Gigi is not going to let Bette—or the other dancers who bullied her—go unpunished. But as revenge consumes her, Gigi may be the one who pays the price.

After years of grueling auditions, torn ribbons, and broken hearts, it all comes down to this last dance. Who will make the cut? And who will lose her dream forever?

REVIEW:

When I saw that Sona Charaipotra was releasing a sequel to Tiny Pretty Things, I got very excited. Tiny Pretty Things was a great story about the struggles young girls faced while attending a prestigious Ballet Academy and trying to make it to the big stage as company dancers. There was a ton of drama and intertwined love stories, along with a little mystery tucked in. Shiny Broken Pieces followed up to Tiny Pretty Things perfectly.

The second book in the series, Shiny Broken Pieces, a while after all the stuff went down in Tiny Pretty Things. We have all our favorite characters and they are up to the same drama and tricks that kept us flipping pages the first time. Whether you were a fan of Gigi, Betty, June, or one of the other crazy girls that make up the ballerinas, or even one of the few boys in the story, there is some dramatic story line for everyone. Charaipotra makes the worst case scenarios the center of the story without it feeling unrealistic, or overly dramatic. The balance is perfect.

Charapoitra has a smooth writing style, fun, crazy, and witty characters, and an overall entertaining novel to put your hands on. Make sure to pick up your copy now. I promise, you won’t regret it.
