Goode girls don’t lie…

Perched atop a hill in the tiny town of Marchburg, Virginia, The Goode School is a prestigious prep school known as a Silent Ivy. The boarding school of choice for daughters of the rich and influential, it accepts only the best and the brightest. Its elite status, long-held traditions and honor code are ideal for preparing exceptional young women for brilliant futures at Ivy League universities and beyond. But a stranger has come to Goode, and this ivy has turned poisonous.

In a world where appearances are everything, as long as students pretend to follow the rules, no one questions the cruelties of the secret societies or the dubious behavior of the privileged young women who expect to get away with murder. But when a popular student is found dead, the truth cannot be ignored. Rumors suggest she was struggling with a secret that drove her to suicide.

But look closely…because there are truths and there are lies, and then there is everything that really happened.

REVIEW:

**A copy of this book was provided by the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review**

Having not looked at what genre Good Girls Lie by J.T. Ellison fell under, I was under the impression I was digging in to a Young Adult Fiction novel. Boy was I mistaken, but not in a bad way.

Good Girls Lie follows a few characters at an all girls school that has a sordid past and a lot of secrets for the future. Ellison definitely wrote a story heavy on suspense and mystery, which is what it really was labeled genre wise. And thriller. From the first chapter I was totally confused on what was happening. The way Ellison wrote the story gave you just enough to enjoy the story, but kept you in the dark on what was really happening. She also offered up multiple characters you thought were the guilty party.

I found the supporting characters to be interesting and kept the story going. They brought a different angle to the story and really set the scene of what kind of environment The Goode School really housed. Ellison put a lot of layers into each character so even smaller characters had a lot of weight on the story and the overall vibe of it.

Ellison has a writing style that allowed the story to flow smoothly even though we were jumping between characters at time. My only minor upset was that sometimes it didn’t tell you who you were jumping to and it took a few paragraphs to figure out who I was reading about. Otherwise the novel was good and I had no issues with it.

This thriller is a fantastic read for anyone who is looking for a suspenseful book filled with lots of twists and turns at every corner and you will find it hard to guess the ending. I have already read one book by Ellison before and I will continue to check out more from her going forward.
